How would you describe the style of Herb Ritts' photography?

Please help me describe the style of Herb Ritts' photography. I am especially interested in his celebrity / commercial photography. Please help describe what composition that uses the most, lighting techniques and so on.

This could help to compare it with a couple of other photographers League in its artistically, from about the same time. While Scavullo was about a glamorous portrait straight who each air Well, Ritts was not afraid to get closer, show the pores and imperfections. Yet he often used a diffused light in the face to smooth wrinkles and erase the years, his work is much less honest than it may seem at first glance. Then Annie Leibovitz also creates beautiful images, it inserts in each image, such as having Whoopee Goldberg posed in a bathtub full of milk: milk had the idea of Annie, she tells us Whoopee nothing about, all about Annie. Ritts was inclined to repeat the same game, like with Jack Nicholson and the lens. But Ritts uses the most economical things, restoring a sense of honesty that may not be entirely accurate. Stylistically, he liked to work around, pull on the black and white, has been justly famous for his interpretation of gray tones in green, the poetic mode. The lighting is subtle but complex, rarely calling attention self. He generally avoids the perfection of Scavullo stilted and frenetic novelty Lebovitz, although he was inclined to both the occasion. As Bruce Weber, he made men look good to other men – it is impossible to ignore the beauty of the male form photographed by Ritts — and as such, be regarded as a flagship to May in both the movement of gay rights, and the obsession of male hetero-modern the perfect body.
