I admit – I have been slow to embrace the phenomenon of digital photography. As an amateur, I have two cameras, one focused old manual Nikon and a newer autofocus Canon Rebel, and I resisted the temptation to engage in a digital camera to recently, even though each of them my children for years now. But recently, my father gave me his Olympus average price (it did not like the menus), and I was giving him a try. And to my surprise, I even envy.
My favorite thing about the device picture is quite clear – no film. My father gave me two (bless him) large memory cards, and I have never run out of film. I do not pay not to develop the pictures that I do not really now that I've seen (I do not pay to develop pictures of time), and since I can not really see how they look there, I can delete bad shots to save space for more. Taking lots of shots helps me improve, and improves the chances of a better average than the photo as well, and now it's free. My camera has settings on this that allow me to I argue that film – I can set the film speed and worry about opening and shutter speed, as with my other devices, if I can still use what I already know about photography, which I really like. The other really cool thing about digital photography is a photo montage. I have not yet invested in Photoshop, but I eye on the program elements for next year. I just used Google's free Picasa and sometimes my editor PhotoDeluxe (entry free with my scanner), and even then I can do an incredible amount of really exciting things with my photos. The best is being able to correct exposure poor (I confess, I often feel backlight). With some adjustments, which would have been a throwaway photo can become a keeper! I delete red-eye easily, intensifying efforts, adjust the contrast, warm colors, and remove excessive unwanted color (eg lamp). Cropping is my favorite – The lucky few who have their own darkroom crop their photos on a regular basis, but us ordinary people used have to take what we have – no longer! We can pick and choose, and glory in removing unwanted background, sky too – you can even remove most of the shooting and get up close. Resizing is a snap – want some portfolios? Do not panic. 8×10, 5×7, some size eccentric – just make a simple selection. And do not forget special effects. According to the editor, you can transform your photo into a painting, add plugs, filters, neon signs – your imagination can Go Wild!
When you have your masterpiece ready to go, you can printed on photo paper at home, or you can send it for processing. With Picasa, you can click and send to a processor via the Internet, and get your photos printed by a professional in the mail – but only those that you've decided you want. You can transfer your digital conversion. There are so pleased to have this kind of control over your work that it has actually rejuvenated my love of photography.
