Mother's Day, is celebrated as the holiday was the American created by Anna Jarvis in Grafton, as a day to honor mothers and motherhood, especially in the context of family and relationships. It is now celebrated for several days in many parts of the world, often in May, some of which have a much more ancient than the modern holiday tradition.
Anna Jarvis, daughter of Anna Reeves Jarvis, who had moved to Grafton in Philadelphia in 1890, was theone who is the power behind the official establishment of Mother's Day.
>> A juror at his mother falls in 1905 to devote his life to draft his mother, and establish a Mother's Day to honor mothers, living and dead
>> In 1907, she spent 500 white carnations at her mother's church, St. Andrew's Methodist Episcopal Church in Grafton, West Virginia – one for each mother in the congregation.
>> May 10, 1908: St. Andrew's in Grafton is the first church that responded to its request for a Sunday service in honor of mothers.
